Who we are

Butchery at Bowhouse & Balcaskie Estate

Our aim at Butchery at Bowhouse is simple, to produce the best possible tasting meat, meat which reminds people or perhaps introduces people to how good it can be. Starting with only the best animals, these are handpicked from surrounding Balcaskie estate, where they have been reared organically and had a fully pasture fed diet.

Balcaskie is a modern working estate at the heart of the East Neuk of Fife, committed to cultivating and caring for the natural environment, nurturing local business and supporting the vibrant community.

We farm beef, lamb and cereals organically focusing on natural production methods to enhance our natural capital. Producing native breed beef and lamb direct to our own butchery.

Grazing is of permanent pastures, open woodlands and modern herbal leys, with additional bale-grazing in the winter. The meat is expertly hung and butchered at Bowhouse, taking the time to get the best out of every different piece.
