Who we are

A family farm in our fourth generation at Filston

We are a mixed farm with arable and livestock. We have got a native herd of Sussex cattle the graze across our species-rich grassland and our arable cover crops in winter. We have got badger-faced welsh mountain sheep that do really well on our chalky loam soils.

What we stand for

A diverse farming system built on regenerative principles

In 2021 we started to reintroduce our livestock onto our arable and started to build up our Sussex herd. This allowed us to create the regenerative farming story by aiming to reduce external inputs and build the biodiversity on the farm.

We establish diverse cover crops over the winter months, which these animals then graze. This practice offers multiple benefits: the cover crops protect the soil and capture nutrients, while the grazing livestock naturally fertilise the ground with their manure, trampling crop residues and improving soil structure.

The cows also create another product from our arable fields which helps us be more resilient to market volatility. Whilst also producing delicious nutrient dense beef!
