Gutchpool Farm
In a quiet corner of Dorset, our regenerative farm produces 100% grass fed lamb and hogget from our flock of native breed sheep
Who we are
Great Taste Award winners of our slow matured lamb and hogget, sold direct from our farm
Gutchpool is a small family run grassland farm on which we run a flock of pedigree Dorset Down sheep for lamb and hogget, as well as a few Shetlands for mutton and their beautiful wool. The sheep live their life on the farm and are outside all year, lambing in spring. By rotationally grazing we move them frequently onto new diverse mix pastures, mimicking nature, with access to hedgerows and field margins, which ensure they have a nutritious and varied diet.
The pastures are a mixture of deep rooting flowering plants, grasses, clovers and herbs, full of vitamins and minerals impart an exceptional flavour to the meat, which not only tastes amazing but is much healthier for us - and the planet - than grain and soya fed meat.
We pride ourselves in our high animal welfare standards, the animals are stress free and exhibit their natural behaviour with plenty of shade and shelter. We use a small local abattoir, the meat is expertly butchered by an award-winning master butcher nearby, which keeps everything local and food miles to a minimum.
We also sell organically tanned sheepskins, woven throws and knitting yarn, all from our sheep’s wonderful fleeces.

About us
We greatly value our sheep
Honouring the whole animal
The sheep provide us with delicious meat and their skins are organically tanned for us. Wool is a wonder fibre, with endless benefits, and we have their annual wool clip made into knitting yarn, woven throws and machine knits - nothing is wasted.

What we stand for
High animal welfare, farming with and for nature, and providing food for our community
We farm following regenerative and organic principles, without any pesticides or chemicals, and we believe that having 100% pasture fed livestock on the farm is integral to a sustainable farming future.
By not disturbing the soil we keep the carbon in, while the sheep convert the grass to protein, giving us meat which is low in saturated fat, while high in Omega fatty acids, vitamins and minerals.
The way we farm improves fertility, encouraging microbial activity in the soil and biodiversity on the land, evident in the abundance of wildlife, particularly birds, butterflies and invertebrates that we see all over the farm.
