Knowledge Exchange Coordinator
£35,000 FTE
Role Purpose
Pasture for Life (PfL) is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company focused on developing pastoral farming systems in the UK to positively benefit the environment and farmed animals as well as farmers, farm businesses and wider society.
PfL currently numbers c.1,000 members, most of whom are farming, but also ancillary sectors and businesses, including cheffing and butchery, food retail, leather and wool workers, veterinary services, conservation, academia and more. We have a ‘supporter’ list of 12,000 who receive our email communications and social followers of c.30,000. We have c.160 certified farms. PfL has developed knowledge exchange programmes that have become highly regarded by the farming community, occupies trusted partner status in academic circles through our research activity, and demonstrates clear demand in the supply chain for PfL certified products.
PfL’s activity is grassroots by its nature and, as such, regional and local activity is essential. Recent evidence has demonstrated that having a regional presence is the best way to deliver on our goals and grow our impact. We bring members (particularly farmers and supply chain actors) together to share learning and collaborate to drive the transition to low input livestock systems. The Knowledge Exchange Administrator will be an important cog in ensuring all our knowledge exchange delivery is consistent in its quality and efficiency, supporting those on the ground in a targeted way.
Relationships
- Internal: Director, Regional Managers, National Managers and Project Managers. Accounts team.
- External: Members, local and regional delivery partners, local and regional funders
Primary Responsibilities
- Assisting PfL’s Regional / National delivery plan to drive member engagement, win new business and develop strategic relationships with key partners
- Assisting the delivery of project and consultancy work by providing financial and administrative support
- Driving efficiencies across our knowledge exchange activity, focusing on process, finance and reporting to ensure we are minimising administration while retaining quality output
- Overseeing the collection of data on our efforts for reporting and other purposes
Strategic Responsibilities
- Developing a more entrepreneurial / commercial approach for the organisation
- Help ensure the the resources of the organisation are directed for maximum effect Key performance indicators and objectives
- Financial sustainability of the Regional / National and Knowledge Exchange workstreams
- On-time, on-budget project delivery
- Regular reporting
Knowledge, skills and experience
- Well developed professional skills, including written and verbal communication, organisational, financial and time management and the confident use of information technology to deliver efficiencies and solutions
- An ability to think strategically while balancing the needs of day-to-day management
- An innovative, self-starting attitude with an open-minded curiosity suited to an evolving environment
- A passion for the subject of pasture-farming, and wider agroecological and regenerative systems, and a desire to make a significant difference in transitioning to them

Pasture for Life is a nationwide organisation and its active Directors, volunteers, and current staff members work from home so these roles will be expected to make their own working arrangements. A computer will be provided, if needed. Team communications are currently held through Google and other media, with occasional face-to-face meetings. The successful applicant will be expected to travel for which expenses may be claimed. They will need to be able to work on their own, but also to communicate effectively with the wider PfL team, ensuring everyone is pulling together in the same direction.
