Simon Hare

Simon farms near Barnard Castle in Co. Durham, with 400 acres of all grassland. Once a conventional dairy farm, Simon wanted to create a simple system that wasn’t susceptible to the fluctuating prices of feed for dairy cows. He now produces Pasture for Life certified, Organic beef. 

Simon tried to grow as much grass as possible without fertiliser and continues to learn about grazing management to grow lots of grass. Simon also progressed into learning about holistic management. He is currently focusing on improving the genetics of the cattle and the functioning of the land.
