Beef cattle expert, South West England
Consultant Bio
Andy is interested in building beef cattle based farming systems that are profitable, work with nature and enjoyable to operate. He wants these systems to be producing a range of top quality products - whether it be weaned calves, jars of tallow or high value nature.
Looking at costs, particularly those tricky overheads, and trying to reduce these whilst maximising margin per animal or per hectare by targeted marketing or adding value is what Andy has implemented at home with their 90 suckler cows. He is keen to help others do this.
Andy recognises that building and/or adapting any farming business is a journey, and there can always be more to do. But having a well thought out goal and a flexible plan gives that journey direction is key, and Andy is keen to help others do this.

His particular farming skills are around practical suckler herd breeding and management, mob/AMP grazing design and implementation, managing species rich grassland, and working with conservation partners.
Beyond agriculture, he has good skills in small butchery design and operation, pricing and costing, marketing and brand positioning. He can also help with pulling a vision together, making a plan and breaking that down into manageable actions.
