Alex's background
Alex came to farming later in life as a new entrant, without a farm so has developed creative approaches to farming. With Grazing Management Ltd, he manages conservation grazing across 500 acres split across 25 sites, covering a range of wildflower meadows, peatland, heathland, cliff sites and floodplains for a variety of clients in South Wales and West of England. The focus is on ecological outcomes for the client on a contract basis. He extensively uses virtual fencing and other technologies to create efficient, financially viable approaches to conservation grazing.
As a new entrant, Alex has learnt by doing, being innovative, made plenty of mistakes and learnt from them. He is keen to share the learnings from these mistakes with you, so you don’t have to make the same ones! He’s asked plenty of questions in his time, and believes the only stupid question is the one you didn’t ask. Always keen to look at the issues and help people think creatively for solutions and reframe the issues.
